Human Resources Hiring Process – Episode #69

The following video is borrowed from our platform and was originally recorded for our business management training program.  In this video, we cover the acquiring phase of human resources management.  The human resources hiring process is an important one and it consists of three primary activities:  recruiting, selection and orientation.  Mastering these activities is essential to the success of your human resources hiring process.

Video Transcript/Summary: The strategies and tips provided within this video module include:

  1. When acquiring new employees, human resources team must complete three tasks: first, recruiting which is the process of attracting applicants to apply for positions.  Second, selection which is the process of choosing and hiring the most qualified applicants.  Last, orientation which is where the human resources team gets the new hire orientated with the business.
  2. The livelihood of a company relies on its employees and part of the human resources department’s responsibilities include: ensuring that there arenew candidates who can bring life to the company.  Recruiting needs to be a process that is systematic and planned. 
  3. Selection can be difficult and time-consuming.  Ways to increase your applicant pool include: advertising the job more frequently, encouraging many applicants and using social media. 
  4. It is important to choose the best fit for the company; not necessarily, the applicant with the most impressive credentials.

Human resources is an incredibly important part of running a successful business.  It is crucial that you and your human resources team establish a strong process for hiring.
